What's New in
Quicken WillMaker & Trust

Nolo's attorneys and programmers continually add legal updates, technical improvements, and new features to WillMaker to ensure that it stays up to date and gets better over time.

Here is an overview of what’s new.

Transfer on Death Deed: Maryland

WillMaker now provides a transfer on death deed for Maryland. WillMaker will continue to add transfer on death deeds as states pass legislation allowing them.

Final Arrangements: New Option for Body Disposition

The interview for WillMaker’s Final Arrangements document now offers a third choice for body disposition (what would like to happen to a body after death). In addition to the traditional options of burial or cremation, users can now select “another form of care,” which allows them to describe alternate plans—for example, natural organic reduction or green burial.

Living Trust: New Option to Pay the Trustee

In response to customer requests, WillMaker’s Living Trust now includes the option to set up payment for your trustee.

Transfer on Death Deed: Delaware

WillMaker now provides a transfer on death deed for Delaware.

Living Trust: Second Alternates

Although a single set of alternates is sufficient for many trust makers, many people wanted the option to name an additional level of alternates. So we’ve added the ability to name a second set of alternates in the most common scenarios.

For example, in the shared trust, you’ve always been able to name your spouse as your primary beneficiary and your children as your alternate beneficiaries (in case your spouse dies before you do). Now, you can also name your grandchildren as second alternates (in case your spouse and any of your children die before you do).

Notary Acknowledgements

All WillMaker documents that require notarization will now print with a state-specific notary acknowledgment. Before this update, WillMaker printed notary certificates for some documents, but for others, WillMaker suggested getting one from the notary instead.

New eBook: Make Your Living Trust

We’ve added a new book to WillMaker’s free library: Make Your Living Trust, by the Editors of Nolo. This book is a fantastic addition to WillMaker — especially for those trying to figure out whether they should create a will, a living trust, or both.

As a reminder, when you buy WillMaker, you get several ebooks:
